Whether 4 or 16 years old, "CHIGS" (Chigwell & Hainault
Maccabi) has something for you.
Created in its present form in 1991, we are one of the few INDEPENDENT, SELF FUNDING,
VOLUNTARY YOUTH CLUBS still in existence. This enables us to keep our costs low, but at the same time giving great value
for money in comparison with other organisations.
Our Volunteers range from our more mature helpers, many of whom have been with us from
the start, to our Teenagers, who train from Year 7 through our Leadership programme to become the leaders of the future.
Their aim when they reach Year 10 is to become involved in the countrywide MACCABI LEADERSHIP
course. This not only gives them a much more in depth training, but also gives them the opportunity to meet other Teenagers
from all over the UK and, later on through the course, all over the world. This is a unique experience that can only
happen through a club such as ours. We particularly value their input as members and as such
a club is based on the needs and ideas of all the participants.
Through the training we offer they are able to help, plan the activities, working closely
with the younger children to enjoy their club.
We are OFSTED INSPECTED and have always gained excellent reports invariably noting the
uniqueness in how well our youngsters work with the children and adults alike, and our complete integration of those children
who made an extra hand, as well as the variety of activities we have on offer.
